Johanna Suvenmetsä releases a new album featuring flute works by Kai Nieminen

Flutist Johanna Suvenmetsä is known as a versatile musician who has performed both as a soloist and chamber musician in Finland and abroad. She is especially recognized as a sensitive interpreter of contemporary music, bringing together classical tradition and modern expression with refined artistry.

Her new album, to be released on November 28, 2025, presents a selection of Kai Nieminen’s flute works, revealing the poetic sound world and expressive depth of the instrument. The compositions lead the listener through inner landscapes and nature-inspired soundscapes, blending sensitivity, mysticism, and virtuosic brilliance.

The album includes the following works:

  1. Hymnos for flute – 7:18

  2. Nocturnal Mindscapes for alto flute, strings, and harp – 18:11

  3. Hymnos V for alto flute – 12:30

  4. Birds Near the Lake for piccolo flute, strings, and harp – 6:16

  5. Hymnos VIII for flute and bass flute – 11:11

  6. From Time… Moon… & Stars… for alto flute, strings
